There was once something wonderfully authentic about visiting Peru. There were few luxury hotels and most everyone was forced to experience this mysterious country in the same way. As a Tour Director who has conducted tours in Peru many times, and have also traveled there for pleasure, I often wondered when the tide would change and some of the luxury brands would begin to infiltrate the main plaza in Cusco near Machu Picchu. It's happening now. Brands like the Orient Express and the Marriot have been busy at work, and never before has there been more choices for luxury accommodations.
